less again because I decided against the shower (and the fan service) and for the Seishiro-Makoto talk and some Subaru contemplation time
resulting in better characterization and more focus on the plot than the butt.
continuing with Subaru-Michiko (one scene given, since working speed is closer to normal now)
character in for a tough talk: Makoto
character clearing the premises: Subaru
character actually drawing an ofuda: Ameru
character more professionally savvy now: Michiko
quote of the day: His pulse. Not Sado's.
totally unrelated side-note: my main non-keyboard input device (Wacom Graphire3 tablet) unexpectedly died on me Sunday, leaving me stranded with having to use a mouse after almost ten mouse-free years (oh, the horror, the HORROR!!! I only use an air mouse when watching movies, even touch pads are preferable to e-rodents on productivity comps for me) until the shinew one (in stylish silver with white light accents; why did you get only dark tablets when all laptops where silver, and now that all my laptops are shiny black (with red), I get a tablet in silver???) arrived this morning.
Multigestures are an esp. nice touch for everyday work (not necessary to grab the pen when just shuffling browser windows or scrolling) and the scribe handwriting recognition (not that useful, since I'm typing way faster than I scribble) is plain fun! Like the results of early automated translation programs... longer words it gets fine, but my crowsfeet seem to max out its abilities esp. at three letter words. FUN (fum, frum, firn, Son, Sun, Sim,...)! :D
Graphics / penwork is at the known high level, with the new tablet being about twice as large and double precision in pressure sensitivity than the old one. I'm still saving for an Intuos, but that was out of financial reach on such short notice and in the meantime, the Bamboo Fun Pen & Touch Medium covers my daily work needs to a T (and it looks good). Drool Tech approved. :D

Date: 2009-11-11 19:19 (UTC)From:If you can cough up really big bucks, go for a flash-based drive. They have no moving parts like normal harddisks any longer, but the paycheck per MB is really tough. I have yet to get one, since most of the time I only use "homebound" drives and change the content on the laptop's inbuilt HD.
As for choosing "normal HD":
I've made a good experience with the 1.5 TB one from Iomega, but had always ever trouble with anything Maxtor. Generally, I'd look up the drive I consider on Amazon.com (or .de, .co.uk, etc. whatever's closest to you) and read the consumer reviews there to get a hunch at how the things behave in use. I don't give much by professional reviews - they typically don't bother to correct their review when the stuff develops "issues" after two weeks of use. I also use Amazon (including MArketplace) to judge what's the average pricetag for a drive I'm considering. At least Amazon.de is typically below street-price in Germany. In anyway, I calculate the How many bucks per MB storage capacity quotient for the drives I'm considering.
Personally, for drives that get hauled around - I prefer having two medium sized instead of a really large one. That way I can use one to mirror the content of the other and keep one copy at home (in case something happens to the transported one).
I'm sorry that I can't give you are better suggestion regarding product & brand. Most companies put out good and bad drives in their time, so... maybe the info how I choose drives is of a little help. Good luck. :)
Anyway, if medium sized is enough: Iomega has a series of colored portable HDs (red, blue, black, pink, ...) that look nice. But I haven't checked the specifics. Last time I needed a new HD urgently, I needed a last one to be left savely at home on the shelf. :)

Date: 2009-11-11 19:41 (UTC)From:That really helped. All I needed was to have at least a good&tested brand name, and I never even heard about Iomega.
Iomega eGO looks like the thing I want.
Sorry for bothering you, but I couldn't stand the thought of searching the web for hours, for something that will probably work terribly in the end anyway.
Now, if it comes to the worst I can always blame somebody else:POnce again thank you :)

Iomega eGo.... ooooh, they look shiny! Let me know how it behaves over time. Maybe I get myself a red one to go with my Samsung laptop & tft. :)))

Date: 2009-11-12 10:59 (UTC)From:I had brief runins with other tablet from different companies on work comps - and no, they don't come even close.
I've been ogling the Intuos line for a long time already, but since I'm firmly set on getting the right size for my work & system the first time I cough up the money for it, I'm still somewhat short on it. Saving increases, though, so maybe when the Intuos5 with touch hits the market, I'm ready. :)
