[community profile] snowflake_challenge #6: make a list of things that you wish existed in fandom or elsewhere, or that you'd like someone to make for you...

Numbering for convenience only.
  1. Let's start with something smutty. I'd love to see the initial premise of the Chinese web novel Forced Estrus (so NOT SAFE FOR WORK) of a transformed alpha-general used in a culture-detailed, in-character(!) fic for Reinhard von Lohengramm (A) and Yang Wen-Li (O) of Legend of the Galactic Heroes. [fic wish]

  2. I wish there were a tagged, searchable fanart archive similar to the AO3 but for artwork, linked to the stories on AO3 (frontispieces, illustrations) if possible. [fandom infrastructure]

  3. I'd love to get an icon depicting the logo of Sakura Enterprises Inc. I actually started on doing that fanart, but it was one of the projects that got shelved for time constrictions and is unlikely to be revived in a timely manner. [TBX Decagram icon]

  4. Related to the previous wish: anybody's got an idea about how a logo for the Sumeragi that's not just a plain pentacle would look like? [TBX Decagram discussion]

  5. I wish somebody would write a fic that deviates from the Guardian canon right before all the time travel stuff and finish it in terms of a science fiction / space opera story rather than a barely concealed fantasy / horror plot of sacrifice. (Also, something in my mind still wonders which ship of the gargantuan fleets of the Legend of the Galactic Heroes crashed there after which battle to create the Guardian premise; was it of the Empire, of the Alliance, or were there ships of both? *g*) [fic wish - canon revamp]

  6. totally gathered from [personal profile] solo (because I just don't think in general terms that much!): more of my fandoms in comms on Dreamwidth instead of Twitter / Tumblr. TT are just not good interfaces for fandom discourse and ficworks.

The Decagram inspired these wonderful fanarts by several artists. Thank you! ♥

I relocated the fan art gallery to my homepage, because it is a lot easier to maintain there.

Please see: http://www.annkniggendorf.de/page159.html (mobile friendly).

Finally some progress.

Crystal Structures 6 (the Epilogue included) is currently at 18 A4 pages, 14 of which are continuous, hopefully somewhat readable text. Since I don't have an active editor for GR, that means the chances that CS will be posted this year - barring any unknown catastrophes ahead - are quite good. Which also means that all of you (yes, apparently there is still a single individual not myself lurking out here for updates), who wait for the Dekagram to continue may hope for Business As Usual beginning in 2016. We'll see.

I'm still convinced there's a gazillion threads in CS that I failed to pick up and close properly, but at least the reworked Zach & Eliza scene is coming together nicely (though I still have to finish the paragraph about the tattoo - and no, that tattoo and the backstory about it is NOT negotiable!) and do a reread on paper to see, whether or not the scene holds up to scrutiny.

If that works out, then there are only two scenes left: the honoration and the epilogue with O'Mega's parcel, both of which will remain essentially unchanged plotwise - albeit some polishing and streamlining is required. And then it's done. Stay tuned. For realz.
:-)

And for reading all this to the end, here's an excerpt of today's new stuff:

His artificial skin had felt warm and natural, but then she’d held on just a little firmer, and there’d been no bones underneath but a smooth metal structure, reminding her that there beside her was enough power to bring down a combat spacecraft.
She suppressed a shiver, recalling piloting one he’d brought down. No, that had to have been the slaverlord she’d powered. She recalled being collected off the battlefield later without so much as a scratch – and that ship had been blown apart around her.

The Fanart Gallery for the Decagram is back to its former glory at Decagram Fanart Gallery.
The images are now hosted on my homepage. If you have any problems with them, please let me know. :)

Sadly, the Fanart Gallery is down for the time being.
I have to search for a new image hoster - or set up the pictures on my own homepage. I hope to get to that in the foreseeable future. In the meantime, I'll leave the page with the broken links up, so that no comments and dedications get lost until I found a new image solution.

I finally got around to post the final polished version of 36° and its two completed side stories to the AO3.
If you are interested: here's the Decagram page http://archiveofourown.org/series/1144

I will add Family Matters and its side stories once the polished version (for pdf and ebook) is complete. The stress during the final stages of my doctorate show esp. in the last three chapters and that needs fine-tuning!

My doctorate thesis is eating my life kind of fierce. As in about the only time I notice anything past the TeX-files and its pdf-compilation is when I have to run around doing the chores that can't be postponed until after it's done (like shopping for foodstuff - no, I'm not nerdy enough to survive on pizza deliveries (though I am tempted to try, thank you)). Story writing is postponed until (a) afterwards or (b) my muse throws a fit and comes after me with something long and deadly. Whatever happens first.

Anyway, yesterday's first shopping race brought me face to face with something I managed to overlook ignore up until now (despite allergies): Spring & its pretty trees )

And [livejournal.com profile] h_san made this beautiful fanart for the Dekagram gallery:
