akk: AKK - Schriftzug aus Blitzen (Default)
...I would not want to have missed! (I exclude movies and books, otherwise this would be endless.)

[A.K.A. AKK is in list mode & doesn't know why].

Comics

7 Brothers by John Woo & Garth Ennis. Ancient Chinese folktale meets contemporary L.A. Watch out for the dragon!

Fables by Bill Willingham. The Big Bad Wolf being married to Snow White and working as sheriff... that's so close to my imagination it might be considered mental c.r.i.!

Gambit: House of Cards and Hath No Fury by John Layman. What can I say... every girl has her soft spot.

The Darkness by Mark Silvestri and Magdalena by Joe Benitez. If you think my brand of dark humor is evil... *eg*

Anime

X - anime series, another no-brainer here, right?

Descendants of Darkness. And I still think the Count is Tsusuki's father!

M.D. Geist. Who says a movie needs good guys?!

Galaxy Rangers, if you know my earlier works...

Cosmowarrior Zero. Actually, there are several works by Leiji Matsumoto I would miss dearly. Zero finally made the list because the show touches many of the other elements (save Captain Future and Queen Millennia).

Big Wars. Aliens on Mars. Perfect.

Live Action

14 sai no haha. A Japanese tv series about a 14-year-old middle school student getting pregnant and giving birth. Surprisingly sap-free story that really stayed on my mind.

Eureka - finally a science nerd series again that doesn't take itself serious!

Raumpatrouille (Space Patrol). Old. German. Black-and-White. And still more action, tension, and thrill as everything StarTrek rolled into one! And it has Frogs!

Queen Seon Duk. Sheer endless Korean history series that truly stayed on my mind! Even at 62 eps, still too short!

Manga

Tokyo Babylon by Clamp. That's a no-brainer here, right? ;-)

Crying Freeman by Kazuo Koike. Chinese & Japanese underworld. Crime with a touch of fantasy and scifi. There's also a French action movie directed by Christophe Gans with Mark Dacascos that really does justice to the first volume!

Georgeous Carat by Higuri You. Thieves in 19th Century France (and Marocco). Droolworthy.

FAKE by Matoh Sanami. I still have a soft spot for them. :)

Red Eyes. Tough, realistic mecha war. Not to be missed!
