...can you imagine that there's a certain reason behind most construction companies trying to finish their building projects in Germany by the end of September?
...can you further imagine that said reason might be related to the fact that it is rather uncommon here to replace apartment windows at the end of December?
...would it surprise you to learn that said reason is commonly called F.R.O.S.T. (and that I don't mean L.K. Hamilton's Sidhe warrior by it)?

Therefore, allow me to put it all into simpler words:

You freeze your arse off when your flat has no windows for several hours in December!

I know exactly how cold you are. When I returned from Japan a year ago, I couldn't catch my connecting flight (a short hop) due to heavy snow. So I got a bus and arrived home somewhat later only to find that the renovations guy had removed the entire external wall of my bathroom and replaced it with a sheet of heavy plastic. It stayed like that for four days until the cold snap passed. It was amazing how much it caused the temperature of my apartment to drop.

I'm VERY sorry to hear about how chilled you are. Hey, if you get pneumonia as a result of this, can you sue?

Please don't worry about me. I'm certainly not going to get sick or something about that. The people doing the exchange of old to new windows were actually considerate enough to do it on a "room by room" way. As in, there was always at least one room comfortably heated.
I was mostly ranting about the big, fantastically organized planning of my landlord, which ended with them replacing windows in December rather than in say... June? Hence the "rant" tag.

At least, the new windows look better and are warmer - after everything was heated again, that is. :)
