I finally settled enough to
(a) open the file again, to promptly end up with
(b) spending the rest of the day trying to figure out who "Sosanoo's minion" would be, look, and be the required monster. Pretty much the point where writing froze the last time. I guess I have to take a step back and look at the planning itself. If I repeatedly get stuck at the same spot, it means something is just OFF and can't be fixed with mere research... *da sigh*

It's not writer's block. It's that a specific scene doesn't work as I thought it would. Wikipedia's list was a starting point for me in the initial planning, and from there I progressed to even more dedicated sources, but the problem doesn't seem to be finding a suitable critter but the basic concept. I initially planned a straightforward sea demon fight, but it doesn't fit with the Dao dynamics AT ALL. It needs to be a lot more subtle, or it reads like Emmerich's Godzilla with a serious lack of Jean Reno. :-)

Ahh I think I see what you mean. So you need to combine the mechanics of a big baddie showdown with subtle Dao dynamics... that does sound tricky.

I have a couple ideas for it by now, but it means some serious deviations from my initial layout for the scene, that's why it takes so long. I hope to get to it this weekend. That's not something I want to attempt after 8 hours home office on weekdays.

Thanks, but there's no worry about me going crazy because I'm stuck at home. My health has confined me at home for months in my childhood. So, I'm mentally better prepared than most not to freak out. It's familiar territory, so to speak. :)

Now, on to demons on a container yard... :-)
