is there at least a rough outline by now? yes, but aside from the necessary arrival back at Tokyo - and the already decided chapter end, pretty much everything but the order in which the monsters appear is in flux.
research up until now: Japanese sea demons (sadly I didn't find a perfect match), malevolent sea/water spirits that don't get along with sea demons and/or Susanoo (found), catholic liturgy of Saint Joseph (yes, needed), and Christians in feudal Japan & Meiji...

“I have to finish the report before I can go home,” Subaru answered tiredly. “I’ll need another hour for that. At least.” To his relieve, Seishiro merely shrugged and left.
The relieve was short-lived. Seishiro reappeared a moment later, tossing an A4 writing pad on to Subaru’s desk. “Report forms. Takes about five minutes.”
Subaru stared. Somebody had crossed out ‘Sakurazuka’ and scribbled ‘Sumeragi’ above it. “I didn’t execute—” he began.
“The wording is neutral on purpose. An executed job can also mean an investigation that iden-tified the target as harmless.” Seishiro shrugged and added with a smile. “Or a harmless job well done.”
Subaru groaned. “The elders will throw a fit.”
“That I’d like to see. Maybe they’ll end up in the Twentieth century.”
“That ends next year.”
“Indeed. It’s about time they arrive in the last one.”
