I don't feel qualified to infer anything from these since I don't know many of the characters, but I am glad to see Tatsumi as someone else's favorite!

Actually, it would be Tatsumi and the Count, but since the Count as I feel him as a character is actually less canon and more from an epic story arch by Macx and Lara Bee, I decided to limit perception to Tatsumi. :-)

edit: and I didn't answer your meme for mostly the same reason - I don't know most of your fandoms well enough to form an opinion. :-)

Yes, it's very difficult to find patterns... For example, we like some of the same characters, but I'm almost sure it's for different reasons. And in some fandoms I also know, we have different favorites...

I'm curious, for example: why is Ryo your favorite in FAKE? (Dee is my fave here, and he actually conforms to one of my own more pronounced patterns that you don't share. *g*)

FAKE is the first yaoi manga I ever read (or better a shonen-ai series with a yaoi scene at the end *g*). Regarding my preference...
Initial it's visuals, then being tough despite being the submissive when the situation requires it (being a sharpshooter, confronting Dee...). Actually, that pretty much sums up my preference for Floréan in Gorgeous Carat as well (he shot Azura despite being drugged, and didn't say a word under Noir's whip). So there's really a pattern, though it depends on the other character. If they were as -or more- intriguing, they'd likely take the lead. So despite Subaru being not a whimp in X, it's Seishiro winning hands down. :-)

Yeah, I don't feel comfortable guessing much from your list either, since I'm only trully familiar with TB/X and DS9. I'm not surprised Dukat and Garak are your favourites, though.

Yup, StarTrek's villains had always more personality than its heroes! :D

Too true. Though I don't know for TOS--they always had some flat villains (when they had villains at all). Or at least that's the way I remember it.

TOS was pretty much a 1960s cardboard scifi show, with enough wit & concept to carry on (somehow). If I were to list the most fascinating "item" in that show, it would be the Romulans. What I loathed most? The women uniforms and the Federation self-concept. Booooring...
One of the best eps for me was the one with the thawed businessmen from the 20th century, negotiating with the Romulans over the neutral zone. *eg*

You like characters who don't always do what they're supposed to do, I know that much, but that's about all I've got. ;)

I'm not sure that that's a pattern. It counts for most heroes and villains equally. About the only characters I can think of that always do as they are told are the 2nd and 3rd rank goonies of the evil-doers who always argue "but I just followed orders" in the end. :-)
