author's comment: this chapter is one of these transition things that are imperative for the flow (and time coherence) of a fic, but don't hold enough "thrilling events" to make for speedy writing, ultimately resulting in a quiet "ah well, it's about to be okay"-feeling instead of the much sought "YES! THAT'S IT!"-trip.

it may look rollercoaster on the word count, but it looks straight up on the text coherence, so all's fine (if slow)
