research of the day (1): Nozomi Shinkansen (everything from station layout, interior layouts & coloring, amenities, car order, car style, lavatory layout, vending machines, phone booth, service personnel, time table, attendant uniforms... AAAAAAARGH!)
research of the day (2): Battle Royale - cover of the original novel published in April 1999 (yes, it is possible to spend 4 hours on amazon.co.jp without being able to read anything but numbers and still finding what you were looking for!) [and it is a hassle if the corresponding movie was released in the same year!]
research of the day (3): I don't know yet...
on the plus side: the scene definitely works! And solves the delayed issues from 16. Giving Subaru time to think things through is useful (sometimes)!

Personally I think Seishiro could teach those kids few things, but that is only my opinion and not my point entirely.

I am scared that next person I will get to know online will turn out to be Queen Mother. Or that I will scream "gambatte" and start doing stupid things. (We could also start with hero-worship but I don't think either of us would like that :P)

Ok, one last question, does Subaru simply knows the title or actually read/watched it?

I'm not sure I understand what your issue with Queen Mother is.

"Battle Royale" as a novel and subsequent movie (released early 2000) stirred the Japanese youth culture quite a bit; to the point of mock!BR-school uniforms and faked explosive collars being en vogue. I'm sure there were discussions about that in the media; esp. since there was even a request in parliament to censor the book/movie/manga, but it wasn't followed through.
So I'm confident that Subaru would recognize the title at least. Whether he actually read it (or plans to read it) is up for grasps. More interesting would be the question whether Seishiro reads for entertainment or for work. ;)

No idea, I don't see a connection at all with his work, but I will probably see (if it is for work) in the future :)
