It's official. Family Matters will have at least three chapters and an Interregnum more than originally planned. I thought 17 would be enough, but that doesn't provide enough space for finalizing the Mori and the Sumeragi clean-ups (plus, I need a 6th Interregnum and additional chapter space for Kamui's sake; FM is a Seishiro-Subaru fic, but that doesn't mean I can leave the unemployed Savior of Mankind in the lurch. The boy suffered enough without me letting him rot in the dump of abandon.
So I'm writing at chapter 14 now and then...
... - Interregnum 5 - 15 - 16: SumeraMori 2 - 17 - Interregnum 6 - 18 - 19 - 20: Epilogue
...and on to the sequel (if I things go really as planned and I don't come up with interesting detours that call for even more chapters that is).

Date: 2008-02-28 20:15 (UTC)From:I'm glad you also going to be dealing with Kamui's issues. I've been wondering about that actually... is this stalemate between the DoH and DoE something that can just go on indefinitely as long as no one from either side takes any overt action, and what happens if one of them is hit by a bus or something (ie, the balance is upset inadvertently)? If Kamui is the only one that can keep his twin star in check, are he and Fuuuma just going to live together for the rest of their days? Something really needs to be resolved, because I can't imagine a 30, 40, etc year old Fuuma occasionally lapsing into evilness. Although I suppose Kamui might be better equipped to deal with it after all that time lol...
Also! You haven't really tried to link Kamui and Fuuma together romantically as other authors have (I don't count evil!Fuuma's molestation of Kamui), and the recovered Fuuma just seems to be acting like the older brother, as he did before Kamui made his choice originally. So, I'm quite interested to see where you go with that storyline.

Date: 2008-02-28 20:34 (UTC)From:The major hint is actually from 36°: the main force driving Kamui and his Twin Star into an all out battle good vs. evil / Heaven vs. Earth / Yin vs. Yang (choose what you like) are the superstitions related to the year 1999.
I don't know how old you were in 1999, but most people lost interest in the mystic mumbojumbo that had filled the tabloids pre-Dec 31, 1999 rather quickly once 1-1-2000 came across and they'd survived their one-year-too-early Millennium parties.
Now what does that mean for the plot, hm? ;)
Fuma is in big brother mode, because it's a) an emotionally safe place for him to be (it's a role he knows how to handle) and b) he's trying to make up for the TS's deeds as good as he can (papa's shrine to take care for, pampering Kamui, bemourning Kotori). In addition, I actually believe that he gets it that Kamui is _not well_ whatever he seems to be on the surface right now.
About romantics... I don't think they can answer that at the moment, so I for sure can't either. We'll see how the Gedankenexperiment that this fic is, develops. :)
