scene worked on today: "When did you plan to tell me?!" (now incorporating "The Talk", while still being more concise & poignant than before)
scene complete? yes!
character saying no: Seishiro (yes, indeed)
character finally feeling bad about chapter 17: Subaru
issue resolved: emo rollercoaster & delayed guilt-trip
quote of the day: When had he become so wanton?
related side-note: to avoid unnecessary excitement in FM-PMS' readership. Despite everything Subaru's been through in this fic, his moral compass is still a lot less lenient than that of the average yaoi fan, hence take today's qotd with a grain of salt. :)

Date: 2010-01-07 13:22 (UTC)From:(It's a way of warding off bad luck or bad omens... Oh Subaru you know you loooove him. Okay, I'm officially losing my mind with this wait. Sorry.)
Also, can you answer a question for me. Please tell me that Brent Week's main characters are not actually angels or demons... or are they? I try to avoid reading novels that deal with fallen angels especially in tandem with vampire or fairy lore. My own original novels feature such themes and I am scared of being influenced by others, but I would like to read his books. He went to Hillsdale which is my sister's alma mater and my alma mater's rival college in academic standing.

Date: 2010-01-07 13:45 (UTC)From:I'm not far enough into the series to give a good review or summary, so here's just part of the back text:
"For Durzo Blint, assassination is an art. And he is the city's most accomplished artist, his talents required from alleyway to courtly boudoir.
For Azoth, survival is precarious. Something you never take for granted. As a guild rat, he's grown up in the slums, and learned the hard way to judge people quickly - and to take risks. Risks like apprenticing himself to Durzo Blint. [...] He must learn to navigate the assassin's world of dangerous politics and strange magics - and cultivate a flair of death." But at this point, I can say that I'm as fascinated with this series as I was with "The Last Concubine" recently.
And the archangels and vampires... well, that would be Nalini Singh's "Angels Blood" (and I'm really sitting on the edge of my chair waiting for the sequel due in February). ;)
