Okay, my curiosity readings for today are now off the charts. Genetics and gender are so fascinating. One of the reasons TB really grabbed me was because of the .. undercurrents of gender.. stuff. I don't even know what to call it, but I always wondered what kind of impact being constantly mistaken for a girl had on Subaru :( Veryyyy interested to see your take on the Sumeragi twins.

Actually, I'm not going to use that directly in the fic. It's way too scientific & the details are not plot-relevant.
However, I prefer having my facts straight when it comes to stuff like that and therefore I tried to discern whether monocygotic twins with different genders are possible at all (yes, but extremely rare - see the pdf linked above) and what (also extremely rare) condition must be met in addition for the girl to be the more likely reproducing one (Wiki). Very science loaded reading material there - with the quintessence that yes, it is imaginable, and no, in terms of likelihood and probability we'd practically need karmic / divine intervention for it to happen at all (let alone twice or three times) in a family line. And actually, gender is not the primary issue there. It's actually one of the results. In causal relation, it's one step down the line. ;)

Lol! Science has never been my strong suit. I liked biology a lot but physics and chemistry were soooo hard for me. I still find science interesting though, especially when it's enriching my fanfic reading :]
