Finally back at editing Crystal Structures. Took a little longer than expected - I forgot how much tinkering is required to adapt Word Standard filters to LibreOffice. On the plus side, the moment have that done, you have an interface that not only is more intuitive than Word but also handles graphics in text a lot better.
Finally there's a properly aligned portrait of Ilianov in the footer! So basically, working with Libre in Linux had the usual starting issues (despite me having used Libre for ages on Win), but once the Word settings are done, the work flow in Libre is definitely preferable to Word 2007 & later. It gets things done - and allows more control about what I want it to do.
If you need only standard formatting, Word is easier, but the moment you want something that's not out of the box (like a right-text-area-aligned micro-portrait as part of a non-justified footnote), then Libre beats Word hands down with a broom and ketchup! (And you can set the display of the document independent from the document colors, thus writing on dark blue with light text and still having a doc with normal black on white text for somebody else! YAY!)
Now back to editing and Zach questioning Niko!
