current chapter word count: 9434
scene worked on: Omi's House Visit of Hell
completed? no. Now I have two bloated scenes, which need to be streamlined while there's still necessary content in them missing!
character decidedly nervous: Omi Tono
character who risks his life: Yoshi
because of... salmon fillet
research of the day: street view of Ueno-Sakuragi & the Yanaka cemetery, traveling times from Okutama - Tachibana - Tokyo Station - Uguisudani
quote of the day: He was going to one of the most polluted places on Earth: the Sakurazukamori's house. Subaru-san's house.
Google Earth made street photos around the area where I placed Seishiro's house for the story. While I didn't have the layout of the streets and houses as it is in reality, I'm surprised how many of the elements I made up actually exist (even if in slightly different locations). The high wall on one side of the street with small flats on the other; trees lining the streets once you get further away from the Kototoi towards the Yanaka cemetery... it's fascinating how close I got to reality, despite making most of it up based on the size of buildings and street widths in an old city map!
Have a look at it in Google Earth. The picture at 35° 43' 23.72" N 139° 46' 24.03" E is closest to where I made up his house to be! [Here's a link to the Google map streets view for it.]
