Network Hardware Update
2007-09-22 22:53Today I more-or-less spontaneously gave up on resurrecting my old T-Com router (TCR), got to the computer market and got myself a cute little Fritz!Box. The decision for it was based more on color (burgundy red looks good to the midnight blue of the hallway carpet) and the fact that it has a USB port for my printer than on any presearched specifications.
So far, it works like a song - including fixed IP, IP forwarding, traffic shaping and stealthed firewall ports (two things the TCR only managed when crashing) - and the whole thing run in less than 30 minutes (counted from opening the plastic bag holding the purchase).
I can't say anything about long-time stability yet, but so far things look good!
