book recommendation

Those knowing me might read this as a déjà vu.
I'm once again /more precisely: for the forth time!) totally engrossed with C. J. Cherryh's Fortress-series (Fortress in the Eye of Time, Fortress of Eagles, Fortress of Owls, Fortress of Dragons... if only the promised Fortress of Ice would be out already; it's definitely on my book-to-buy list (even as hardcover)).

This time, I'm actually mistreating it by reading it loud in the kitchen (training for those 45 minutes speeches required once in a while in my business), but it still has me at the throat.

The imagery, the way the used words reflect the development and the growing up of the main character Tristen, the complexity of the world setup and the religious and political intrigues to mirror it, let alone the setting of a Medieval world of Man at (un)ease with the reappearance of magic, wizardry, and the Sihhé in the form of Tristen (and the fine tuned details that separate the underlying concepts)...

I've enjoyed the Lord of the Ring books (both in the original and in its translated version) but I admit, if I had to choose taking those books or these, these would definitely win.

Now, during the fourth reading, I still found only one flaw in them: there aren't enough of them (yet). ;)

Thank you for your attention. Back to reading (and writing my own fic) now.
