Spent the last three hours finally watching the end of "Legend of the Galactic Heroes - The New Thesis" - only complaint: cliffhanger ending & the next season is not yet available *dah sigh*. OTOH, they really followed the books in this - with character designs, plotlines, and styles! So the cliffhanger is bearable. :-)

Of course, now I combine mentally Yoshiki Tanaka's LotGH with the Dixing crash, but *shrug* that's an image I can live with. *eg*

If you are curious, the trailer is on Youtube at https://youtu.be/gZwqJbgb2yw

comments

Just thought about the Google Now feature in my Nexus tab. According to Google, it uses my location, calendar, and search history (among other things) to predict the information I might need next and display it without me having to ask for it first.
Nice idea. However, I won't activate it. It's way too dangerous in my case! My location history is empty (I disabled it), my calendar is filled with when to water my plants (mostly), and my search history is story related...

I don't want Google Now to display the flight schedule between Tokyo and Okinawa (I'm nowhere near there), the traffic situation in Ueno - Tokyo, and the "101 ways to entertain your cherry tree" while calling the police to my doorstep because said cherry tree is so well fed. ;)

comments

A couple of posts about the tv series Game of Thrones have sprung up across my friends lists in the last couple of days, probably caused by the dvd release of season 1 in Germany and the airing of season 2 (?).
I've followed the posts closely and - so far - I've come to the conclusion that Game of Thrones is one of those fandoms, which I will avoid because I love the books and the tv show, and find its grisly depictions entirely befitting the source. (I only mourn that the direwolves didn't get as much attention as I'd wished for them).

( continuation of why )

Edit: Not all comments I got here are without spoilers, though. :/

comments

Which is - at least partially - due to the fact that I liked the original version as a scene, even if not as part of the plot. This is not quite a full page and still needs excessive work. But we're getting closer. Definitely.
I just received a very polite, very detailed email properly addressed and everything, informing me that I would be the inheritor of a large sum of money from a recently deceased distant relative owning a UK based oil company. The writer of said mail then continued that he'd be an established lawyer and would be searching said inheritors all over the world for the past six months...

...and the email address of this renowned, international lawyer searching for the heirs of the dear 85-year-old oil tycoon was burrito@aol.com!

Totally believable, that one.

comments

Find the last Fandom-related thing you posted. The characters in that post are now your team-mates in the Zombie Apocalypse. How fucked are you?

Depends.
If referring to a possible fandom within a longer, non-fandom-oriented post counts, then it would be Ryoma Sakamoto from Ryomaden, swift-minded, innovative, and very good with swords.
If referring to the first post dedicated to fandom, it would be Seishiro (and Subaru to keep him in check), so *shrug* and...
given that whoever it is, would be teamed up with me:

It's a scientific fact that a killer fungus turns Amazon rainforest ants into zombies (Warning: graphic pictures!). Therefore, zombiism = fungal infection.
Hence, I'd get a family pack of industrial grade fungicide, a spray cannon, a very good breathing filter for chemicals (recommended anyway in case of zombies, because of their *stink*!), ignore environmental protection laws on a widescale basis for at least 30 mins, then cover the de-zombified remains with a fungicidal strain of bacillus subtilis and return to my current projects. *vbeg*

comments

The common pigeon found in cities is the domestic form of the rock dove, so there...

Linguistics: (probably) different
Pigeon: French
Dove is somewhat similar to the German word for both: "Taube"

Connotation: different
Pigeon is a nuisance,
dove is a symbol of peace.

Personally, I like the practical explanation:

If it shits on your car, it's a pigeon.
If it coos to your declaration of love, it's a dove.
If it shits on your car while cooing to your declaration of love, you're out of luck.
(Is it a doveon or a pigove, then?). ;)

comments
